They already HAVE games where you can pay to be the best player- try one of the EQ2 specialized servers, Knight Online, or Global Mu, for example.
Who wants to PvP in a lame gank-fest where you get beaten by people based on how much IRL currency they've converted to ISK? It's a GAME. IRL shouldn't enter in to it.
